2017 Corazon del Sol Single Block Malbec, 3-pack
INAUGURAL VINTAGE!
Winemakers Cristian Moor and Santiago Achaval highlight each block's soil diversity where our Malbec Vines are planted with three separate bottlings. Block 6, Block 13, and Block 22 are best enjoyed side by side to experience the dramatic differences of each parcel's terroir.
We developed this series of 3 bottlings initially with the 2017 vintage. Luciano and Cristian Moor selected 3-5 barrels from each of our Estate Vineyards to showcase the unique differences within our individual parcels, which are quite varied in their soil composition because of our location in Uco Valley on a series of alluvial fans and ancient riverbeds.
Block 6 - Stone River
The Rockiest vineyard block that was planted in 2013 around our winery on the banks of the Arroyo Grande (ancient river), produces very low-yields and powerful Malbec with high-toned red fruit, ages similar to classified growth Bordeaux.
Block 13 - Sandlot
Mostly comprised of sand, these are the ‘original vines’ we planted in 2008, 3 acres of Malbec alongside the Grenache, Syrah, Mourvedre and Cab Franc. Profile of this wine tends produce the finest tannin structure with intense purity of fruit and power.
Block 22 - Limestone Block
Only 1 acre of Malbec was planted in this 3 acre parcel in 2009, situated between Block 13 and Block 6, this block has less sand and more rock than Block 13, but not nearly as extreme as Block 6.
